Decentralized Discipleship (w/ Pat Linnell) – Episode 66

Decentralized Discipleship (w/ Pat Linnell) – Episode 66

Podcast

For many years, we’ve been partnering with churches to take discipleship from just a buzzword to a practical journey of helping people actually become like Christ.

Today, I’m so excited to introduce you to Pat Linnell, Founder of Grace Bomb, which exists to equip churches through free resources that help their congregations grow in daily obedience to the Great Commission by loving their neighbors in unique and intentional ways. (And here’s the crazy thing: It’s free for you to utilize.)

I had the opportunity to connect with Pat last year, and I loved his practical perspective on discipleship.

Today, after we share some laughs about hunting and minivans, Pat talks about decentralizing discipleship, why God led him from being a teaching pastor at a large church to starting Grace Bomb, how they’re able to give Grace Bomb away for free, how our churches can mobilize the people of God, and more. Listen in!

Key Takeaways

1) Discipleship should be decentralized, Spirit-led, and empowered. Far too many of our efforts in discipleship are centered around people showing up to our church, following directions, and experiencing over-programmed obedience. It’s important for us to spend more time and energy empowering our people to live like Christ each and every day.

2) Obedience leads to growth. When our people don’t rely on us to help them grow, some incredible things happen. How can we mobilize the people of God and unlock their potential to make a huge difference in our community?

3) We have to have an equipping mindset. Ephesians 4 makes it clear that this is our call, and it’s as true as ever that we need to focus in on equipping the saints for the work of ministry.
